Dockside Surgery

I had the youngest three of our kids down at the dock recently, two of them were fishing, one was sunbathing. A smallmouth bass hit and when reeled in, was found to have swallowed the hook. After dropping the fish on the dock and screaming EWWW as the fish slime, some blood and the bait splatted around, the fisherkids tried to remove the hook. They were concerned about the fish's health and wellbeing as they attempted to remove the hook, so the sunbather jumped up from her sunning station to act as the anesthesiologist. She poured water over the fish as the other two removed the hook from the hapless bass. Surgery was a success! The hook was removed after a short struggle and the bass was released back into the lake. The patient survived the dockside surgery and swam away.
Co-operation is important if you want to succeed in life. You must attend to your own needs and pay attention to other's needs as you go through your day. Sometimes, your sunbathing is interrupted and you must perform tasks that have nothing to do with yourself but involve interacting and cooperating with others. It's nice to see when your kids understand this lesson.
